EchoLingo (“EchoLingo,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is an educational application that helps children learn languages through interactive stories, audiobooks, and reading tools. EchoLingo is operated by JM Educational Technologies Inc., a corporation registered in the State of Nevada.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our website www.echolingoapp.com, our mobile apps, and related services (“Services”).

EchoLingo is designed for parents and their children. Parents create and manage all accounts. We do not sell personal information. We use the data we collect only to operate, improve, and secure our Services.

Our Services are intended for users in the United States.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Collected From the Adult Account Holder

When a parent or adult creates an account or subscribes, we collect:

• Name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Password
• Billing information (handled by third-party processors)
• Subscription status and transaction history

This information is necessary to create your account, process payments, and manage your subscription.

2.2 Information Collected About Children

Parents may create profiles for their children to use within EchoLingo. For each child profile, we collect:

• Profile name or nickname
• Chosen avatar (system-provided or optional upload)
• Language preferences
• Story listening progress and history
• Audiobook playback position and total listening time

No child can create an account independently. All child profiles are created by and linked to a parent account.

2.3 Automatically Collected Usage Data

We may collect basic technical and usage data, including:

• IP address
• Device type and operating system
• Browser or app version
• Pages viewed
• Crash logs
• Session duration
• Audiobook progress
• Interaction patterns within the app

We use Google Analytics for usage statistics and product improvement.

2.4 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

• We use standard session cookies to operate our website and authenticate users.
• We may use pixels or mobile identifiers to measure advertising performance or detect fraud.

2.5 Payment Information

Payments are processed by:

• Apple App Store (for iOS subscriptions)
• Google Play Store (for Android subscriptions)
• Stripe (for web-based subscriptions)

EchoLingo does not store full credit card numbers. These processors may collect limited information needed to complete transactions (e.g., billing ZIP code).

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information solely for internal business purposes, including to:

• Operate and maintain the EchoLingo platform
• Personalize each child’s learning experience
• Save listening progress and preferences
• Monitor app performance and troubleshoot issues
• Analyze usage to improve features
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Communicate with account holders
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

EchoLingo does not sell personal information.

4. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

EchoLingo is designed to be used by children ages 5 and older, under the supervision of a parent.

4.1 Parental Account Required

A parent or adult must:

• Create the main EchoLingo account
• Provide billing information
• Manage all child profiles
• Control what content and features the child accesses

Children cannot create independent accounts.

4.2 Verifiable Parental Consent

Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), we are required to obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children under 13.

EchoLingo obtains verifiable parental consent when the parent or adult completes a paid subscription transaction using:

• A valid credit card through Stripe
• A valid payment method through Apple
• A valid payment method through Google Play

COPPA recognizes these payment methods as sufficient verification that the adult is authorized to consent for their child.

4.3 Child Profile Information

We collect only the minimum information needed to provide personalized learning features. Parents may add, edit, or delete any child profile at any time. Deleting a child profile permanently deletes associated data.

4.4 Parental Rights (COPPA)

Parents may:

• Review the personal information collected about their child
• Request deletion of their child’s data
• Refuse further collection of child data
• Delete child profiles entirely within the app or by contacting us

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We use third-party services to operate EchoLingo. These providers may have access to limited data only as needed to perform services on our behalf.

Hosting & Infrastructure

• Supabase (U.S.-based database storage, encrypted at rest and in transit)
• Cloudflare (content delivery and security; provides basic request logs)

Analytics

• Google Analytics (usage statistics and performance monitoring)

Email Delivery & Communication

• Mailchimp
• Amazon SES
• Google Workspace
• Proton Mail

Payment Processing

• Stripe
• Apple App Store
• Google Play Store

AI & Translation APIs

We use third-party AI services (e.g., OpenAI, ElevenLabs, AWS AI services) to generate translations or enhance EchoLingo’s content.We do not send personal user data to these services.

These providers are contractually restricted from using EchoLingo data for their own purposes.

6. How We Store and Protect Information

• Personal data is stored in secure U.S.-based databases hosted by Supabase.
• Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
• Access to data is restricted to authorized personnel supporting EchoLingo.
• We follow industry-standard security practices to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, or misuse.

7. Data Retention

• We retain account and profile data as long as the account remains active.
• Parents may delete child profiles at any time.
• Upon request, we will delete all user and child profile data associated with the account.
• Usage logs and analytics may be retained for operational purposes unless deletion is requested.

8. User Rights & Choices

You may:

• Request deletion of your account and data
• Correct certain information with our support team
• Unsubscribe from non-essential marketing emails
• Control child profile creation and deletion

Not supported:

• Data export or data portability requests (except where legally required)

9. Communications

We may contact you to:

• Send onboarding or account-related emails
• Provide product updates
• Deliver marketing or promotional content (optional)
• Respond to support requests

Users can opt out of marketing emails at any time via the “unsubscribe” link.

10. International Users

EchoLingo is intended for use in the United States. We do not guarantee compliance with non-U.S. privacy regulations (such as GDPR or UK data laws).

11. App Permissions and Device Access

EchoLingo does not:

• Collect precise geolocation
• Access your device’s camera
• Access your device’s microphone
• Record audio

Users may optionally upload a profile photo; uploads are encrypted and stored securely.

12. AI-Generated Features (Future Use)

EchoLingo may introduce opt-in features powered by generative AI (OpenAI, AWS, or similar providers) for translation, voice generation, or personalized learning.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

If changes materially affect how we handle children’s data, we will provide notice to the parent account holder.
